Harry Potter’s Summer Starts Early

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will come to life a bit sooner than expected.

Warner Bros. has decided to make a long weekend of it, bumping the long-awaited film’s release date up two days to July 15, a Wednesday.

Well, every little bit helps after they postponed the big day by eight months.

The studio rationalized that opening the sixth installment of the mega-hit franchise on a Wednesday is like giving it two consecutive debut weekends.

“Every day the kids are out of school in summer is just like an extra Saturday,” said Dan Fellman, Warner Bros.’ head of distribution.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will greet the world alone on July 15 and have little to no major competition come Friday-through-Sunday.
