A year of studying abroad is probably a bit less daunting when your destination happens to be your home country.

That’s the situation for Emma Watson, the British actress who’s taking time away from Brown University to study at Oxford – in the same part of England where she grew up.

“It’s really nice … just to have that steady routine and back being home, being around people I love and doing what I love,” Watson, 21, said Sunday at the London premiere of My Week with Marilyn.

Although she’s got her nose in the books, Watson does have some movies in the works, she revealed.

“I’m studying and really excited about my next projects,” she said. “I can’t really talk about them right now, but I am going to try and fit in some film projects next year in between school.”

In My Week with Marilyn, which stars Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe, Watson plays Monroe’s wardrobe assistant, Lucy. After the Harry Potter films, she was thrilled to take a role that wasn’t quite as high profile.

“I loved it,” she said. “It was less pressure, but at the same time it was an interesting role, although it was a small role. I loved the script and loved the story, and I’m very interested in Marilyn, so I really wanted to do it.”

“I’m very proud of it,” she added, “and I’m really pleased with my part in it.”

Of Williams, she says, “I thought she was wonderful. Such a thing to take on, to play someone who is so iconic and so loved, and I think she just pulled it off so well. I was so impressed.”

Just as Hermione’s enrollment at Hogwart’s was bound to come to an end, Harry Potter star Emma Watson will be transferring from Brown University to another school in the fall.

Watson’s rep Vanessa Davies explained the decision by saying the actress, 21, had decided to pursue courses not currently offered at the Rhode Island school, according to The New York Times.

And as for reports that Watson’s change of heart was a result of being bullied on campus, Davies shuts down that theory, saying the star – who turned 21 April 15 – had in fact developed a network of friends and “absolutely loved her time at Brown.”

No word yet on which school the actress, who is currently taking time off from studying to focus on making movies, will be headed to in the fall.

The Emma Watson and Hermione Granger comparisons can stop here.

Watson announced on her website yesterday that she’s stopping her studies at Brown University for the time being to concentrate on doing the press rounds for the final “Harry Potter” movie this summer and then work on her other upcoming film commitments.

“I will still be working towards my degree… it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought,” she wrote.

It doesn’t sound like a compromise that the young Miss Granger would ever make, but as Watson fans, we could not be happier for the actress. Emma has several upcoming projects that we’re really excited for, and we’re glad she’s as willing to commit as we are.

“Deathly Hallows: Part 2″ press rounds
When the Wizarding World of Harry Potter had its grand opening, and for some of the “Deathly Hallows: Part 1″ press rounds, Watson had to make some compromises on both sides of the spectrum for her school commitments. We’re glad that she can dedicate herself 100 percent to “Part 2″ this go around, considering it’s the last time she’ll attend a “Potter” premiere.

“The Perks of Being a Wallflower”
This project has been stuck in gestation for years, but finally Summit Entertainment purchased the rights to the film and it’s getting underway. This might be one of the main reasons Watson is taking a leave from school, as shooting should get underway soon.

“Incarceron”
But that isn’t the only young adult adaptation that Watson has up her belt. She is one of the frontrunners for the female lead in the Taylor Lautner-starring dystopian young adult adaptation “Incarceron,” and there is nothing that we would love more than for her to get the role.

Something New, Please!
There was a point in time where we honestly were worried we were never going to see an Emma Watson film again. Fortunately that time has passed, and with this latest decision, we’re hopeful that Watson will stick around Hollywood for many years to come.

Are you glad that Watson was willing to put her education on hold for her film career, or do you feel bad that she had to sacrifice it for Hollywood? Let us know in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Emma Watson hasn’t dumped British financier beau Jay Barrymore for Spanish rocker Rafael Cebrian as was speculated after Watson and Cebrian were seen together at a Rangers game in late November.

Watson and Barrymore spent Thanksgiving at the Round Hill resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica, reports Page Six.

Cebrian, who is studying at Brown University, where Watson is majoring in English literature, is drummer in the band Monomes. He is the son son of Juan Luis Cebrian, founding director of Madrid-based daily El Pais and the CEO of the Prisa Group, a leading Spanish-media conglomerate.

Emma Watson and the class of 2013 attend freshman orientation at Brown University on Friday (September 4) in Providence, Rhode Island.

The day after, the 19-year-old British actress was seen grabbing Starbucks with friends and family. Her boyfriend Jay Barrymore has also been spotted on campus.

Emma arrived on campus via helicopter on Wednesday, September 2. Not a typical way to start off the school year! In addition to her literature course load, Emma is taking a geology class this semester.

“I want to be normal,” the Harry Potter starlet has said. “I really want anonymity. I want to do [the college experience] properly, like everyone else. As long as I don’t walk in and see, like, Harry Potter posters everywhere, I’ll be fine.”

gut-3321371Maybe Daniel Radcliffe needs a magic spell to keep him from blurting out his friends’ secrets.

While Radcliffe’s Harry Potter co-star, Emma Watson, has been trying to keep her academic plans under wraps, D-Rad has gone ahead and confirmed rumors that the actress will attend Brown University in the fall.

Discussing Watson’s academic prowess (and his own lack thereof), Radcliffe told British newspaper the Guardian, “Do you know her GCSE [General Certificate of Secondary Education] results?” I was thrilled with mine—seven Bs, two As and an A*. I think Emma got three As and seven A*s—she’s incredibly academic, it’s frightening. Me and Rupert to all intents and purposes dropped out of school. And she’s going to Brown.”

Whoops; looks like the cat’s out of the bag! Good job, Dan!
